Welcome to Ship Shape
For a boat owner there is no better feeling than the pride and pleasure of owning and using a gleaming, shiny and immaculately clean boat, we call it “That New Boat Feeling”. Nearly every boat owner enjoys using their boat more when it looks good, BUT knowing that also brings with it some of the worst aspects of owning a boat:
- Knowing your pride and joy isn’t being looked after properly because you don’t have the time
- Not getting the most amount of pleasure and enjoyment using a boat that doesn’t look its best
- Having to spend time cleaning the boat when you just want to be use it
- Accepting that part of owning a boat is that it will start to fade and look old until you fall out of love with it
We give boat owners the choice to leave behind all of these negative aspects of owning a boat.

With the right treatment the new shine of the surfaces can be restored and kept looking like new with as little effort as you like. You can have that new boat feeling every time you use your boat.
Our Polishing, Cleaning and Protective Coating Services
Over the past 10 years in Plymouth we have continually tested the most advanced polishes, cleaners and protective coatings so that we can give boat owners a boat that looks like, or even better, every time they use it throughout the entire year.
To bring the entire boat up to its best possible level of new finish we treat every surface of the boat individually as each material needs a specific approach to enhance it as much as possible, then protect its enhanced new finish.
Antifouling – Complete Protection Below the Waterline
Whether you have a new boat that needs its first antifouling or you just need your annual hull cleaning and antifouling, we provide a fast, thorough and professional service to ensure your hull is completely protected from the risk of osmosis which can lead huge repair bills.
We focus on a detailed hull preparation to make sure the antifoul has the best possible surface to grip hold of, making sure it protects the hull properly all season. We also ensuring a neat waterline and thorough antifouling application using good quality International products.
As part of our complete antifouling service we also offer cleaning and painting of outdrives, polishing of running grear and anode replacement.
Gelcoat Polishing & Cleaning – Restoring a New Boat Shine
Our gelcoat polishing and restoration treatment enhances faded, milky and dull gelcoat back to a deep new shine. We do not use conventional compound machine polishing because, despite the superficial and short term shine it provides, it actually accelerates fading and destroys the gelcoat surface more with every polish. This, as we see with almost every boat we work on, will unavoidably lead to a boat that looks much older than it would if never polished at all, or huge repair costs to re-gel the surface; either way a very unhappy boat owner.
We use an advanced nano-polishing treatment that we have refined ourselves to restore and enhance a deep gloss shine to gelcoat. Because this grade of polishing is 10,000 times finer than a commercial compound polish we are able to not only maintain the strength and integrity of the gelcoat with every treatment but also in many cases achieve an even deeper shine than the boat will have had when new from the factory.
To keep gelcoat clean we use a detergent scrub with UV barriers which, as you would imagine, helps to protect the surface from the fading and dulling effect of the sun.
Protecting the New Gelcoat Shine
A restored or new shiny gelcoat surface can be protected from fading with regular cleaning and the right coating. We do not use a wax after polishing because was, as you know, melts with the heat of the sun and is easily rubbed off the surface.
We use high-bonding nano-coatings to protect shiny polished gelcoat surfaces because, unlike a wax which only holds onto a surface with friction, these coatings are engineered to grab on to the surface much tighter using either an electrostatic or chemical bond. The result is that they last much longer than a wax, their dirt-repellant properties keep the surface cleaner making it much less work to keep clean and they keep boats looking shiny and new for much longer.
Washdown & Protection of All Other Boat Surfaces
For every other surface of the boat we have a cleaning, polishing and protective coating that enhances its appearance to the best it can be and then keeps it that way:
